My name‿ is‿ Alice,│ and‿ I have‿ always loved reading. As‿ a child,│ I used to^usta read‿ under the blanket with‿ a torch,│ because my parents turned‿ off the light‿ at nine. Now I read for‿ about forty^for-dy minutes‿ every night│ before‿ I sleep.

I read mostly novels,│ and‿ I can get‿ into a good story very quickly. Las(t) week,│ I finished‿ a 500-page book‿ in one sitting^si-ding,│ because‿ I could not wait to see what happened. It had‿ a plot twist‿ on page 400 that I^{thad I} did not‿ expect‿ at all^adall. My husban(d) prefers non-fiction:│ history,│ science,│ an(d) books‿ about business. He says‿ a novel‿ is‿ a waste‿ of time,│ because‿ it‿ is not true.

We agree on one thing:│ a book mus(t) be well-written. I cannot finish‿ a book with‿ a slow beginning,│ even‿ if the author‿ is famous. I buy paperbacks‿ in‿ a small shop‿ in my town,│ and‿ I borrow the expensive‿ ones from the library. My mother says reading‿ is‿ a habit you have to^hafta build. I think she is right,│ and‿ I am happy│ that my daughter^dau-der has‿ already started.
