UNIT 2: HOME AND NEIGHBORHOOD
My name‿ is Nina,│ and‿ I am‿ a regular customer‿ at‿ a small cafe near my office. I go there three or four times‿ a week,│ an(d) the waiters know my order│ before‿ I sit down. The coffee is not the best‿ in the cityci-dy,│ but‿ it‿ is reasonable‿ an(d) the atmosphere‿ is quiet.
Restaurants‿ are‿ a differen(t) story for me. Las(t) month,│ my friends‿ and‿ I booked‿ a table‿ at‿ a new Italian place. The service was slow,│ an(d) when my pasta came,│ it was cold. I complained politely,│ an(d) the manager brought me another dish‿ an(d) did not charge‿ us for the dessert. I left‿ a normal tip,│ because the waiter was doing his best.
What‿ I have learned‿ is that‿ a menu tells you very littleli-dle. A place with twentytwen-dy dishes‿ is‿ often worse than‿ a place with five. I also prefer restaurants│ where the staff‿ are not‿ in‿ a hurry. If‿ I want‿ a takeaway,│ I can‿ order‿ it‿ at home‿ in two minutes. When‿ I go out,│ I am paying for the evening,│ not‿ only for the food.
