UNIT 2: HOME AND NEIGHBORHOOD
My name‿ is Tom,│ and‿ I have lived‿ in the same neighbourhood for‿ eighteen years. It‿ is not the mos(t) beautiful part‿ of the cityci-dy,│ but‿ it‿ is convenient:│ there‿ is‿ a station,│ two supermarkets,│ and‿ a health centre,│ all within ten minutes‿ of my door.
The bes(t) thing‿ is the community. We have‿ a small park│ where children play football,│ and‿ every summer the neighbours‿ organize‿ a street partypar-dy. It‿ is not noisy at night,│ and‿ although the crime rate‿ is not zero,│ I have‿ always fel(t) safe walking home.
My sister lives‿ in‿ a new area on the edge‿ of town. Her flat‿ is bigger‿ an(d) cheaper,│ but she says‿ it‿ is‿ in the middle‿ of nowhere:│ the buses stop‿ at nine,│ an(d) she has never met the people nex(t) door. She wants to move‿ out│ after the summer. I understan(d) her,│ but Ibud I would rather have‿ an‿ older,│ smaller place that‿ is well-connected‿ an(d) full‿ of people. A neighbourhood‿ is not‿ only houses,│ in my opinion. It‿ is the people you get‿ on with‿ every day.
