UNIT 9: TRAVELING AND CULTURE
My name‿ is Maria. My favorite festival takes place‿ in my cityci-dy every October. It‿ is‿ an‿ international festival,│ so there‿ are musicians from 20 countries.
There‿ is‿ a big parade‿ in the center,│ an(d) many people wear traditional costumes. In the evening,│ there‿ are fireworks near the river. Las(t) year,│ my cousin came with her children,│ an(d) we watched the parade together. The crowd was‿ enormous,│ but‿ everybody was happy.
My grandmother says the festival‿ is local,│ not‿ international,│ because‿ it started‿ in‿ our town 80 years‿ ago. She is right,│ but now the worl(d) comes to us. We decorate the balconies with paper flowers,│ an(d) we cook for‿ our neighbors.
